I'd go with what the brain-trust here has assessed.

That said, I have a major issue with sloppy documentation from a major manufacturer - no excuse, IMO.

Personally, to aid my sleep at night, I'd contact JD directly. Never dealt with JD myself, but I'm assuming they have factory 800# and email tech support. These days, an email (perhaps including this thread link), might get more attention.... just a guess though.

But yes, I'd vote for outdated documentation (assuming that the bearing actually fits the application).

Thank you for volunteering your time/resources and taking this much care with a machine you don't own - you happen to remind me of a very good friend of mine.

I can't say for the bearing you have but I replaced several of those bearings in F935's and they did in fact have a 'crack' in the outer race. I may have heard in the past the reason for it but I have since forgotten. If yours doesn't have it I would not be too concerned. It really is a mickey mouse set up but it does function.:thumbsup:
