Ok I think I have added a a couple of pics with my question. Here is the story. I finally found a hidden stump with my front right axle shield and bent it. After bending it I noticed that it closed the space that the stabilizer dust cover needed to work efficiently and it busted it. Its the black rubber on the inner portion of the stabilizer bar on a M 5140. Does anyone know a part number for just the cover and can I get just a cover? I priced it at the dealer and they said I had to buy the unit that the cover is attached to and that is $177.00. I appreciate any advice on this one.

After the 3rd or 4th time I mangled up the guard and the rubber boot just like yours, I quit worrying about it and just ran it that way. I guess that the ball joint will gradually rust/wear because the boot is torn, but like you found, the fix is to replace the whole joint anyway. Might just as well run it until there is some actual deterioration in the joint, right? So far it has been several years (and my tractor lives outside) and there is still no perceptible problem/slop in the joint.

Find a old piece of fire hose and a couple of hose clamps that will at least keep most of the water and dust out of it.

G'day and :welcome: that is an inner tie rod end over here the local auto parts places carry replacement boots for them if you get it off you might be able to match it up at a similar place over there, they usually come in three or four different sizes. I have put windscreen adhesive or silicone on some to keep the dirt out til I get it repaired properly you need to keep the dirt out though or it will work like grinding paste and wear the joint out.
