I have a John Deere 2150 that I am planning to put a Pat's Easy Change Hitch assembly on. The issue is that, while the lift arms of the three point are structurally sized like Category I, the swivel balls are Category II. All of my implements (to this point) are Category I pins, and I use the Cat II/Cat I bushings on them.

Pat's come in several options, including Cat I/Cat I... Cat II/Cat I... and Cat II/Cat II. The Cat II utilizes the 1 1/8" pins (which my 2150 uses), but they seem vastly oversized for the arms themselves. The 7/8" Cat I pins are too small, obviously, but I am wondering if they would make more sense if I used the Cat I/Cat II bushings inside them?

I contacted Pat's directly, and their email indicated I should get the larger size, but I'm wondering if they fully understood my plan to use the bushings inside the swivel balls.

Any of you all out there had experience with this? Do I need to size up to the Cat II/Cat I (lift arm/implement) combo connector?

As long as the arms will physically fit in the Pat's ends then I would probably just go with the Cat. 1 set and use the bushing.

Just make width/height of the arm ends will work.

I was about to order the Cat 1, then saw this on AskTractorMike. Do any of you have the Cat 1 Pat's that could measure the inner width of the opening for me?

"NOTE: If the tractor has lower link arm balls that are both Category I and Category II (many Mahindra models have this option), order Pat’s Category II or Category II (tractor) to I (implement) models. Category I Pat’s Easy Change won’t fit because of the width of the balls."

The opening on my Pats measures about 1 3/4”. They are category 1. They are pretty loose on the arms and bolts hold them tight. I assume the extra width is to fit over the ball, which the width of the ball may be the critical measurement.

Awesome. That helps me out a lot! :)

Lol, now I'm back to square one. I was about to order the Cat 1 from Rural King, when I noticed in the specs on their website said the socket width was 1.5". So I called the Pat's guy direct, and he told me they are 1.25", (which makes no sense at all to me since the ball width for Cat 1 is 1 3/8"). Is there any possibility they changed the design spec since you ordered yours, Dave?

It possible. Everything is kind of covered up when they are installed. The measurement I gave you woukd the side closest to the tractor when installed, it could be smaller inside further closer to where the 3 point balls are.

Are yours the all cast or the earlier fabricated style?

I have the cast design, I'll try to get a measurment when I get home in the morning.
