Pat\'s Easy Change System

I think I know the answer to the question I'm about to ask [and that is, "Go measure your equipment before you order!], but I thought I'd post the question just in case someone out there has "been there, done that."

And the question is, "Will Pat's easy change system work on my tractor?" I have a New Holland Model 1925 with the stock three point lift system. The lady who answered the phone where these implements are made told me she just sold a set to a guy who had a New Holland TC 33 D tractor and "they worked great". Would this be the same exact Category I lift system as my 1925?

Also, I don't know the brand of my PTO shaft, but it does seem to have a fair amount of play in the extension. I hear that you can't extend it all the way to accommodate the 3 1/2" extra length of the Easy Change system or you might not have enough overlap to stay within the safe range of the PTO shaft itself. I don't want to pay $200 for the system only to find out the PTO shaft is too short so I need to spend another $200 for a longer PTO shaft.

Anyway, any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System

Cannot answer for your specific tractor.

I put Pat's on my Kubota 2200 and love it. The key is to have implements that either have about the same spacing pins OR are adjustable so you can make them close.

To try to illustrate: Take your hand and form a letter "C" which will simulate the lift arm of your tractor. Hold it in front of you and now pivot it outboard in an arc, just as your lift arm on your tractor would do.

If you watch the "C", you will notice that it angles a lot. What I found on one of my implements (it was cat 2, not one and I couldn't flip the pins) was the angle became too much to fit Pat's hole. Only way it would work would be if I re-adjusted Pat's system to fix the angle. That's not practical, so I'm selling the implement and getting a cat 1 that has pins the right width.

Anymore, when I look at an implement, that is the first thing I check for is the spacing.

Hope this helps.

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System

Ron, THANKS! Your explanation was helpful. When I bought the tractor, I got a mower, shredder, lift boom and a blade with it. All of the equipment was used. I've since bought a middle buster. I've hooked all of these implements to my tractor successfully. However, when I got the blade, I noticed that the pins were "asymmetrical". In other words, the previous owner had put one pin "inward" and the other "outward" in the brackets. Why I don't know, because my friend and I couldn't get the lift arms wide enough to accommodate the arrangement. We then faced both pins "inward" and finally got the arms to attach. I was hoping that because you don't have to spread the arms as wide with the Pat's system than you do with the conventional lift arms to attach them, that I wouldn't have to worry as much about the width of the implement pins. I guess I was wrong!

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System

I have Pat's system on my Yanmar 1500 for now and I love it. I can now use my rotary fertilizer as well as several other small implements. Before the extra 3 inches that the EZ change added, my PTO shaft was too LONG to alow the spreader to be lifted with the 3PH and it was a real pain to put on because of the relatively wide pin spacing. The EZ Change is heavily built and works well for me and my use. I also believe they have 2 sizes for different size lower lift arms...not sure but I thought I remember readng that on their sight..maybe someone else remembers.

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System

I bought one for my NH 1925 and wow, am I glad I did! Makes changing implements a breeze. Recommend to anyone who struggles with this task. I do wish they would generate a little better user's manual, but it's pretty self-explanatory. I did have to bevel the pins to get them to go into the lift arms easily. Without beveling, it wouldn't go in even when the pin and hole appeared perfectly aligned. See pic of Rhino shredder hooked up with the Pat's system. 45er

Re: Pat\'s Easy Change System

I also put a Pat's Easy Hitch on my tractor. The hitch is now permanent. If an implement won't fit I won't buy it. Most PTO shafts have a good bit of latitude in length. Raising and lowering my brush cutter changes the length a lot more than the Easy hitch did.
