Paving my driveway

I have not looked at paving. A friend several years ago tried to get quotes for a couple thousand feet and was told they won't move equipment for something that small. Most driveways in FL and GA are concrete I assume for that reason.

Looks good BUT there seems to be a lot of loose gravel on top. Perhaps the asphalt wasn't as hot as it should have been. I sure hope it holds up for you. Plan to do some surface coating at least every 2 years to keep it water proof and help prevent cracking.

There is no loose gravel on top. I had it sealed when they finished compressing it. I also will have it "sealed and top coated" on a regular schedule.

Nice looking blacktop job. You will love it.

I noticed the edges have a 3-4" drop off. Do you plan on putting dirt or something else to get rid of the bump?

The reason I ask is around these parts many concrete driveways of sidewalks are put in and the edges are left 4" higher than the lawn. It makes a real ankle twister and an all around pain in the butt.

Yes sir, I still have a lot of work to do on the overall job. One side still has some of the old drive that I will remove and then I will dress it up along the edges and re-seed it.
Then comes the paint job on the gate and fence.

LOL, recall in my first home the city was doing paving repairs and I boldly asked the foreman if they had left over asphalt would they like to save clean up work by dumping in my driveway.
Cost me $25. 'donation' for their coffee break.
And they roller compacted as well.
Called being right time right place, I guess.

Looks great. Hope the guy doesn't damage it when he comes to pick up that dumpster.

Thats what I was thinking. Going to need to make the transition from dirt to asphalt even for that dumpster.

I solved the problem with the dumpster, I moved it across the street to my buddys gravel drive with his permission and the right to use it. That will work out great for both of us.
