in the end tracphone won.
they had a big jitterbug style flip phone, was cheap, just over 20$, doubles whatever minutes on your plan card you buy. got a 1 year plan card, 800 minutes, probably 740 of them will never get used.. but still got piece of mind and now no 39$ month add on to my plan ( outragous! )
averages out to less than 9$ a month.. not bad..
