Have any of you tried these.? the Aguila Colibri is quiet about like most Air rifles, and the Super colibri is quieter than any air rifle I have ever shot. I have several bricks of both. Put these in a good .22 bolt action rifle or Lever action and they are really quiete.. Of course any bolt or lever (closed breech) is quieter than a semi auto. Also a semi-auto will not cycle with these. Also longer barrel the quieter the rifle will be. (more time for the gas to expand and cool before exiting the muzzle) A good Marlin 39a (Rifle size not the carbine) is a very quiet .22 with even standard velocity ammo let alone reduced velocity like the Aguila. If you do try the Super Colibri, make sure to shoot a few shots on paper so you know for sure that the bullets are coming out of the barrel, as it is possible in some tight guns for them to stick. You will easily hear the bullets striking the target also. Not saying you dont want an airgun, just offering an another cheap alternative

Festoolification welcome to the forum, always good to hear from the other side of the pond. That 410 is an excellent quality air rifle and I really enjoy shooting it, Air Arms sure got it right!

My son has an Airforce Talon in .22. For a space age looking air rifle it is a nice gun, not up to the quality of the 410, but still nice. The Talon is set to be highly modded and you can do a lot with them. I would like to get the .25 cal. and mod it up, but I think I will get a Shoebox compressor first.

k0ua thanks for the link, I think I will give them a try. I have a Marlin 39M Golden I will try them in. I know it is the carbine but none of my other .22's have a longer barrel. I could try it in the Chipmunk :). That is such a tiny gun the only way I can shoot it is like a pistol.

Uh, I was on your side here.

Thats what I thought and I appreciate it, but if you look at "SKYCO's" remark after yours, he seems to have taken it the other way. Doesn't matter, its all in good fun. Now let me see what I can write to get that pr%^k back. Just kidding. :D:laughing::D:laughing:

I have a crossman it is in 17 caliber and I have killed hundreds of squirrels. The part I like is the fact that they do not drop like rocks. That way I do not have to clean up as many bodies about half make it to the woods before dropping. Of course the woods is only 10 feet away.

For those interested, there is a channel called the Sportsman Channel. It's 605 if you have Direct TV. I never even knew I had channels up that high until a month ago, lol. Lots of cool shooting stuff Thursday nights including a program called American Airgunner.

Dad left me his Daisy Powerline 1000 break barrel - it's made in Turkey. It's black, heavy, has a synthetic stock & a scope. It's a real bear to cock, but I have had very good luck vs the squirrels & rabbits in the vegetable patch. The Plant Manager sent a coyote packing with it last year - he hasn't been back. It makes almost as much noise as our Winchester 69-A .22 bolt action, which I think Dad got when he was a cadet.

I've been using the .177 old school lead pellets that Pops got when he bought the thing, about 8 or 9 years ago. I was sort of pleasantly stunned by the way the critters just drop when they're hit. I thought there'd be a whole lot more tracking, reloading and dispatching involved. Plus I hate to see an animal suffer, even if it's been a real pain in the britches.

If the price of cat food keeps going up, I think I'll try feeding the little fuzz heads some of the squirrel.

retiredmgn come on man, you have to have a hobby of some type. Maybe you chase the little white balls across a manicured lawn. Bass fishing is not a sport for the wallet either. Could it be old cars, RV camping, maybe it is just rim fire or center fire guns. Everybody has some type of hobby that everyone does not necessarily agree with, what is yours?
By the way that sure is a beautiful home you have in your signature.

Well stated. I was perhaps a bit testy. Sorry folks.
It's that time of month...
