No OLN but I'm trying to sneek the minute-by-minute coverge when I can. Today starts the mountains so things should get interesting.
I'm still completely awestruck by Lance and the rest of them. I used to be fairly competitive at the local level but no time to keep up with the training lately. Monday I got out rode somewhat briskly. Did 27 miles right at 20mph. I was happy considering my lack of fitness but Lance did his opening time trial at 33.98mph. He's simply amazing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW - Peleton is the french word for the large group of cyclists in a bike race. We are talking of the Tour de france, and Big Tex (Lance Armstrong) who is going to win for the 7th time this year. (six was a record.. six in a row! was also a record).

Lance is amazing! I also used to ride quite a bit, but he is about 20 levels above my best abilities! Hope he wins, then he can retire and relax and get fat like the rest of us - he deserves it!

Jordan retired once, twice or is that 3 times. Until next years race comes and goes I wouldn't be suprised if he goes next year.

Anyway, I'm taking Tuesday & Thursday mornings off to watch the action in the Alps. I'm going riding myself from about 8 to 9 in the morning and then watching the action on TiVo. I would take Wednesday morning off, but I'll be stuck in a meeting.
Anyone remember Jonathan Boyer being the only American in the Tour? It wasn't that long ago. The USA has come a long way in pro cycling.

Well, I think you can thank the US Postal team and Lance for the increased awareness here in the USA, and yes, it's a marked improvement...........
When I lived in San Diego, I used to ride 100-200 miles a week, and enjoyed pretty much every moment. I also did the Tecate- Ensenada, Rosarita-Ensenada, TJ - Ensenada etc runs every year, they were tough, but fun.
Now that I live in KC, it's either too hot (and humid), too cold, raining, snowing, sleeting, thundering and lightning etc,etc, etc. So now I ride my tractor, and watch cycling...........

Add me to the list of tractor nuts/cyclists. Since I haven't gotten around to building my canopy on my MF 135 I even use an old Camelback while working. For the non cyclists, a Camelback is an insulated bladder that you wear like a backpack and drink through a flexible connected line.
I've been watching Lance's career since about 93 after I started cycling in 1992. I met him once while living in Austin at his first Ride For The Roses. He was signing autographs for everyone in line and wasn't really looking up, just signing whatever was in front of him. At that time in 1997 my brother in law had just celebrated his 1 year anniversary for surviving testicular cancer. I stumbled through saying this and he basically stopped everything to talk about it. Very classy guy.
As far as tractors at the tour. I'm pretty sure I've seen MF, Ford, Peugeot, and Raleigh.
