Doing some more stone wall work and culverts on our new property, so many rocks I have not had to buy any, but I'm doing these myself, so I'm missing the hands I had a few years back. But its good exercise I guess, not sure if I am loosing weight, but its moving around.
The thumb has been a big help in setting the larger stones without displacing the previous course
The wall is a pull in area to assist larger vehicles in the swing of my drive.
Thanks Eddie, the thumb really come into its own when placing them by myself without disrupting the previous course, particularly once you get up a couple feet. I typically run two or three course before I back fill depending on how tight they are and if I have to shim to get a tight face.
I'm liking that! I read that a retired doctor just started moving rocks on his place, and after some years, and a beautiful stone wall! My place in GA has plenty, but all are small. Still might try something though.
I have a lot of field stone walls too, dig a hole find a stone, normally its one of those big ones too! The walls look great! That thumb is awesome too.
