As many of you know, I went to Las Vegas last week. My timing couldn't have been better for weather. Apparently I missed the coldest week of the winter here, with temps never venturing over fifteen degrees in my absence. Las Vegas' weather, on the other hand, was described all week as "unseasonably warm" so it was a good week to go all the way around.

It was good to go (my first vacation in three years) and that I had a great time there, but it was good to get back as well. I have to say that getting off the plane in Chicago and feeling that brisk winter air just kind of felt right for January. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary, I'm glad your trip went well and you made it back safely.

I'm glad the weather cooperated and that you had a good time, Gary, but.... was your wallet thicker or thinner when you got home?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Chris,

I don't play the table games or machines out there so that wasn't a factor. I did go to a sports book while I was there and bet some weekend ballgames. The NBA was unkind Friday night as I went 0-3 there but came back on NCAA hoops Saturday with a 4-1 day then won on the Super Bowl with Tampa Bay -4, lost on the under 44 1/2 and won a proposition bet on total interceptions over 3.

All of my wagers were in the same amount so, when all was said and done, I finished up the equivalent of 1/2 of one of my game bet amounts. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Not exactly impressive over three days of games but it pretty much covered some new luggage I bought there. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif At that rate, it's safe to say I've not found a new profession. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

My wallet was definitely thinner overall, though, as I saw some really great shows while I was there. Since I know I'm going to leave some cash there I guess I just prefer to spend it on show tickets instead of chips. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gary,
Welcome back to reality(the Midwest). Going to Vegas myself in 2 weeks. Any particular shows you especially liked and would recommend? Let me know.
Thanks,
Jerry

" but, it was good to get back as well. "

The older I get the more I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong the wife and I go on vacation every year to bask in some much-needed warm weather and love it. But, after a week or two of crowds, traffic and noise there ain't no place like home.

Jerry,

See a show called 'The Blue Man Group' at the Luxor. It's incredible. Music, performance art, acrobatics, magic and more. I ended up taking a local model I met at the Builder's Show and they got her up on stage for one of their segments. It was a really great time and, from what I understand, has replaced Siegfried & Roy as THE hot ticket in town.

The other shows I saw (The Fabulous Thuderbirds, Papa Roach, et. al.) were all there for just the night I saw them or a two or three day engagement. If you like music, check out who's playing at The House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. You might look here to see what's going to be there while you're there.

Depending on when you're going and your tastes there's what I consider to be a great show coming to Vegas soon. It's kind of a 'dueling pianos' show with Billy Joel and Elton John. I'm half tempted to try to get back there to see that show, myself. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
