But, I thought when I looked at the DK40se at another dealer, that the cover over the PTO was a flip-up. On my DK45se, it seems to be bolted in place. Either I'm not looking in the manual in the right place, or doing something wrong if it is supposed to move.

I connected up my shaft to my Bush Hog without any problem, but if it should move, then I want to figure it out.

My 2006 DK45S is definitely flip-up.

Brother, It's only a dumb question, when you don't ask.

Answer is: Tap it up with a plastic head hammer- they're stiff to move but it will move up to allow better access.

What a dumb question!
Just kidding:thumbsup:

my dk45se flips up. It was/is stiff though. Like Coyote machine suggested a plastic hammer or block of wood will move it.

Yep, flip up...or even better {gasp}remove the dang thing...it gets in the way. I really don't know why they need a shield there....anyone that sticks their paws down around the 3 point while the pto is spinning has one foot up on the Darwin award platform.

Thanks guys- I was having a senior moment... The two nuts were put on with either a impact wrench or my son took a second job and didn't tell me. Once I took my socket set to it, it started flapping in the breeze.

Motor- it's the most convienent place to snap on my PTO cover safety chain.
