Hi all,
<snip> I need to protect my garden from deer. It's a whole bunch cheaper than any kind of fence.
<snip>
Have you tried a single strand PB coated electric fence?
An uncle had a large watermelon garden that the whitetails loved. His solution was a 1 strand electric fence which he then "coated" with peanut butter. He'd put a glob of PB in a glove and just run the wire through the glove, giving it a light coating. The deer would lick the wire, get a severe shock and not come back.

That isn't a bad idea.

It's a good excuse to buy all the equipment necessary to trench water lines to the garden. ;)
We just lay a garden hose on the ground during the growing season. It quickly disappears into the grass and doesn't interfere with mowing.

Another trick we use for critter control is a game camera monitoring the garden area. It alerts our cell phones when an animal approaches and we run them off. It will detect something as small as a baby rabbit.

They come in the night so that would not work here.

That might work for deer, what about rabbits and coons?

Nothing scarier than a baby rabbit that stalks the night. :p
I don't know what the bunny i saw last night was eating but it was fat!!!!

Figuring it's probably a momma that's about to give birth.
