I just ordered 5 frames from Perka. These are 30ft wide with a 12ft eave. I need some advice on the fondation. I was thinking of setting them on square piears about 2ft square maybe 3ft square. The piers would be 3ft deep. Has anyone done this? Is there a beter way? I also want to have a complete slab poured also.

Hi Ezekiel

Where are you located? In the United States, 3' deep piers would be the bare minimum depth for any region that receives freezing weather in the winter. It would be a good idea to contact the local building code administrator and find what is the proper depth for your location. There are also soil quality and load bearing issues to consider, again good questions for your local inspector.

I had an engineered foundation done for my Perka building. My freeze depth is 18 inches and each post has a 3x3x2 pad under it. In each pad is a mesh of rebar 8 inches on center. Since my foundation is a slab, I also have rebar that ties the pad to the rest of the slab.

How much did it cost to get the foundation engineered? The estimate I have so far is $3000! If I can figure out my soil bearing capacity I now a guy that will do it for free. The local soil engineer wants $2000 to tell me this.
