Hi new problem have taken inj pump out and repaired made fatal mistake not putting motor on tdc (mate helped and i forgot to tell him) inj pump put in properly bled ,wont fire ,took timing case of and timed with dots still wont fire ,stripped again realigned dots on crank cam and idler wheels took rocker cover off and no 1 injector got compression stroke no 1 tappets rocking and took starter motor out lined flywheel with tdc through hole in crankcase then spill tested injector pump for spray from no 1 pipe but when injector pump is bolted up the cog dots are almost opposite each other on other side of cog and the cog only goes onto injector pump one way Cheers Ted IMG_0004.JPG

Ted.. If you can post the #'s off the name plate on the inj. pump, I can tell you how to find #1 on the pump..
THAT WAY, once you find the point of injection for #1 cylinder ON THE PUMP, you'll KNOW if you have the rest of the gears inline or atleast close & not 180* off..
Seeing the drive gear will bolt up to the pump 1 way, if we find the CORRECT position of the gear, we can see if the dots line up w/ the correct position of the pump..

Hi Pumpguy have the injector numbers it was a new pump from company called Bepco the numbers are 3841 F 360 63E/950/6/2360 394 VE have set rotor inside pump to c and lined with the mark inside couldnt see any circlip to line to as suggested on net Cheers Ted

According to the Delphi website, 3841f360 does not exist.. so the next best thing was for me to try a 3241f360.. that came up.
.. some manuf. use the c clip & others don't.. This spec does not call for it.
In order to find # 1 cyl on this spec pump 3241f360.. you have to apply air pressure to outlet "W".. atleast 90psi..
Looking AT the back of the pump, drive shaft in front of you.. outlet W is at 7:00..
While applying air pressure, you rotate the driveshaft BY HAND in a clockwise rotation looking AT THE FRONT of the pump.. there should also be an arrow on the nameplate showing you the direction of rotation.
The drive will stop when it reaches the air pressure..
IF you do this ON THE ENGINE, you'll have to pull the drive gear out of the way.. the "stop" is slight & you can rotate right past it..
SO DO IT BY HAND..
NOW, look in the side cover & see what letter is inline.. make a scratch mark on the clip if it doesn't have a flat..
Now that you know where #1 is on the pump.. put the gear back on & see if the other marks line up..

Hi Pumpguy thanks for that worked well the mark on the idler cog and injector pump lined ,have put it back together but it seems like the timing is out ,i never removed cam ,idler,or crank pulleys so i will have to pull it down again and see what is happening ,the injector pump is lined with line on block ,but thanks again for your help Cheers Ted

G'day ted the easiest way to time these is to pop the idler off and line the marks up

Hi Jon thanks for that ,the crank pulley dosnt seem to have a mark so i assume put flywheel mark at top dead centre on comp stroke and the front crank pulley key should be at 12 oclock then line up marks on idler cheers Ted
