Personal camground options

Looks like an "Adirondack" lean to, common on the Appalachian Trail and other backpacking trails.

(Except on the AT down in the Smokies, they have chain link fence across the open side to keep the bears out! BTDT)

I found these pics when I was looking at what to build my daughters tree house from. I am doing it a bit different. Its elevated, and then I have the uprights that hold the walls in place out of hemlock trees. But to get a more consistent side I am using pressure treated landscape timbers on their side (not the 4x6 or 6x6 but the cheapie landscape timbers that go on sale for 1.97). I am about 1/2 way done with it and it is pretty easy to make. Right now I am just saving up for more timbers and timberlock screws. Plus I have to wait for my buddy with the truck to get them.

Well we took the camper for it's last trip this weekend. After a couple drinks by the fire with the Mrs, we decided we should use the proceeds to pay off some dept and save the rest for our anniversary weekend in sept. Man it sucks being responsible! LOL The idea is not dead, just delayed. The camping area will still be built in the meantime.

We were at a KOA nearby, and they do have little cabins like the ones I was looking at building, as well as 31' RVs that they rent on site... so it's good to know we've got other options for camping.

I was thinking if you are within a couple hundred feet of your house, two tents would work-out in the meantime. Tents used to be the only way people went camping years ago, and tents have improved a lot since back then.
