greenthumb, If they understood it as an as is deal and were concerned about its potential problems(a crystal ball also helps /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) , THEY should have taken it to their mechanic for the look see on the test drive...Or they could have given a deposit until a scheduled mechanics visit could be done...
Sorry deal is a deal...

thanks for all the input. On Friday after talking myself with several co-workers and family members who all came to the conclusion there may be many factors to why they called back -- problems that had not shown up yet, whose to say they will or when, or that the couple found a better car deal and would like thier money back to pursue the other car or on the way home went over the river and through the woods to get home and have messed it up. I am feeling much better (of course the encouragement from the tbn's helps as well. I now that the car was in good working order when it left my property. the buyers never said they had a problem yet when they called back it was only what their mechanic found after it was sold. so who knows maybe they put the coolent in the oil like they said he found I don't know I know that the oil was fine on saturday morning I checked it, the car worked fine for me the car sold end of story. I did not feel bad using the new three point log splitter I purchased with some of the money from the car today. I was able to split about a 2 face cords today.

On the legal side of course my wife took care of this she tends to be much more responsible then I. She contacted a local attorney on Friday and found out that if they try coming after us they don't have much to stand on. They did have every right to have the car looked before they bought they did not. they did not have to buy it, they brought the money back. they had already titled and registraed it. It took them 48 hours to say a mechanic found a list of potential problems. The attroney said most courts will not even hear a case like that but as long as neither of us are car dealers or mechanics which I know we are not we would have no clue what problems might lurk in used car. He did say anyone can sue anyone for anything but it cost money and would they want to pursue a suite that they would end up counter sued for court cost? a used car deal is preatty much buyer beware. So that is pretty much where I stand. I sold a used car that worked it worked while they drove 60 miles home, I have no reservations and will tell the buyer I am done if they call back which they have not since I told them its done.

Glad to hear you stuck by your guns on this. I feel for them, but a deal is a deal. If they didn't have it checked out before, it's their problem, and they need to be adults about it........

I sold a car and 6 months later the guy had to put CV joint boots on it and wanted me to pay for half, after his third call I finally told him to stop whining and go fix HIS car........

Green thumb,
I have to agree with all the other posters. You didnt misrepresent the vehicle. Anyone who buys a vehicle with 100,000 miles on it knows what they are getting into /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Quite honestly, you could end up giving this person back all the money you made on the sale, especially with extensive repairs. I have to say your in the drivers seat on this one, I guess it boils down on how hard this pulls on your heart strings /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
