Sounds more like guineas than turkeys......turkeys tore her yard, her flower beds, her garden, all her potted plants to shreds...
The influx of turkeys here have displaced the ruffed grouse populations that were once plentiful here...ruffed grouse make much better table fare than wild turkey any day...
...but I have never seen anything that would be considered destructive to the grounds...
In the spring, it's possible to get a flock of turkeys to break matted leaves loose and into piles by just spreading a few hand fulls of cracked corn where you want them to rake...makes them much easier to deal with...every day different area...makes blowing or raking them much easier and faster...
Have always fed the wild ducks along the river of course the turkeys get their share but to get back to bears...we keep the cracked corn in very heavy duty galvanized (made in USA) trash cans...last week a bear destroyed two 50# sacks of corn...both times scaring it off it ran off with the sack spraying the feed everywhere...it is amazing how strong the bears are!...they crush and bite through these HD cans like they were beer cans...!...I have one can lid than is bent over flat then folded over again and so flat is like it was in a press...can not by hand unfold it...!
There has always been bears around here but as a rule they are only a problem in the spring when there are no berries yet and no acorns left...it is unusual to be bothered with them now when there are ripe berries all over the place...
