Does anyone know where to find some repair parts for pest tubes? My pest tubes were exposed to light where they exited the wall outside the house. That long exposure to FL summer caused them to breakdown due to UV exposure. The pest guy says they are dry rotted and won't last much longer. Is there some sort of repair for this? The pest guy did not offer any solutions since he said parts were hard to aquire.

Thanks,

Joe

Did your tubes not have a protective weatherproof cap/enclosure on them?

Well, I just had to Google that! Pest tubes....must be mainly a Florida thing, but I can see the attraction. Kinda like a central vacuum system, but for pest control applications.

Never heard of Pest tubes before this thread. What a neat idea.

Soundguy: When we were building the house, the tubes were exposed for over 6 months in the middle of summer. So, the ends sticking out of the wall are deteriorating...

I lke the pest tubes since the bug guy doesn't have to come into the house and spray the baseboards or anywhere near the kids' toys. The insecticide goes straight into the walls, which is where they are. I am not saying pest tubes solve all problems, but it works well along with perimeter spraying on the oustide of the house.

Sounds like an issue with your contractor if he left your house in an open state for such a long time. Typically down here.. a BP is only good for 6 mos. that menas start to finish, 6 mos.. in most cases. Once the roof is on.. the tubes would be safe.. And the external ones can be capped off.

Unless you can get into your wall and cut/splice them.. I think you are SOL.. again.. if it's a new house.. check your home warranty... it may be a HP.. not a YP ( 'his problem.. not your problem )

They have tubes in the slab too. I had both installed at my house when it was built. Sows only like 190 for the tubes int he slab, and 3 somehting for the tubes inthe wall... a real bargain in my book.. considering they make effective termite treatment / prevention options.
