Pheasant or grouse trap I made

I have not caught anything yet but I've had a pheasant all around it. (The bird actually escaped from my aviary).

It's an old rabbit cage that I took the floor out of and modified the door on. A quick easy project and hopefully I can catch me some birds.

I actually reattached the floor along the rear edge in such a way that it is hinged. In the photos I don't have it under the bait but I could do it that way too.

Could try the old stove pipe trick:

3-4' section of 8 or 10" pipe. Place screen over one end and put some feed in towards the screen. The can go forward to the feed but can not back out!

Works ever time!

I also raise pheasant,about 1500/year;mine have blinders so I try to catch any that escape.What I build was a funnel on the side of the pen out of netting.It works pretty well,just have to chase the birds into it.I thought of building a 2'x2' run that extends into the pen.

Good tips.

NYbirdman, I've read your posts before and find them educational. Do you have a web site ?

Or any tips on nesting environment you can share? I only have 3 birds, a trio and want to have chicks. I've raised all sorts of poultry before so I have most of the "fixins".
