One other thing to consider on film vs digital is the color. I have many slides from 50 years ago that the color has faded and no longer represents what it really was. I have a very good dedicated slide scanner so that helps get the pictures onto the computer, and it includes post processing software, but the color still not what I would like. I'll have to check out Photoshop elements. The digital color doesn't have that problem.
