Very nice looking truck. I give the interior and exterior style award to the Ram. You are correct, the backup camera is awesome. I get a lot of cringing looks in parking lots when I backup within a couple inches of the cars behind me to get out of tight parking spots.

Sexy truck. Curious what kind of mpg you will pull down with the hemi and 8-spd.

But answer me one question, and I don't mean to offend by this, and will probably get flamed in response, but.... What the heck good does a 5-ft bed do for you? What do you do if you need to pick up some lumber.... hook up a trailer? 4-full size doors on the cab, means this truck is more for hauling your family around than for doing work? But... if you go on vacation or something, you put luggage in the bed, exposed to the elements?

Full size trucks with 4 big doors, a giant cab, but a tiny bed make very little sense to me. Why not get an SUV that keeps your cargo enclosed and protected. Or a smaller cab and bigger bed so you can actually get some work done. Extended cabs still have enough leg room for rear passengers, IMO. If they aren't back there every day, they can deal with it. I see so many crew-cab trucks these days, and more and more with the tiny beds. Just seems like a waste of fuel.

Sorry, rant over. I do still envy your rig. :)

Good questions albeit subjective. I had two choices, a 5 foot 7 inch bed or a 6 foot 4 inch bed. The shorter bed makes it easier for my wife to navigate the truck around. A RAM in the Laramie trim is hard to find and one with an 8 speed is more rare. The difference in bed size wasn't important to me. I will add a bed cover to secure luggage or take the LTZ on vacation. If I need a quantity of lumber or anything else, I'll hook up to my 18 foot flat bed trailer. I have two Tahoes but the biggest problem with using them to haul is I can't get small trees and shrubs in them. I run a small tree farm and need to haul small quantities of 3 to 6 foot tall trees used for landscaping. The tailgate will lower half way down and I can lay, for example, 2x4s in the bed if I have a need.

How much room is in the rear seating area is also subjective, I have 5 boys, and the shortest is 6' 2" although they are older and I don't often haul more than myself. The RAM pick-up was to equal a Tahoe LTZ for upscale features while replacing my 2003 Tahoe Z71 and, haul trees and shrubs. I also have a Silverado 2500 Duramax with a larger bed if needed, the RAM was not intended to be a single solution to my needs.

I have just under 200 miles on the truck but so far, my average MPG is 18.7. My drives have few starts and stops, some freeway at 70 MPH and boulevards and 50 MPH with synchronized traffic lights. When the truck gets up to around 10K miles, I'll have a better idea of my MPG but as it stand now, it is beating out the 2008 Tahoe and the 2003 Tahoe.

Thanks for the response, I get it now. Was assuming this would be your primary truck, which was perhaps a little naive, eh? Quite the fleet of vehicles you have there.

My 08 Titan came with a camera and about a 6" screen on the dash that also displays gps and truck information. I could never go back to not having one.

I too have the 5.5' bed and have no problem hauling 10' and under lumber. Anything longer, i take my trailer. It will also hold our large 4 wheeler or two- three dirtbikes. Have a cover that rolls up out of the way and is waterproof for traveling. Larger cab is definitely better for fitting in family and supplies on a trip or for tools when working.
