Hi Rob,
Nice job on the disc !!! That weight looks like an old baler flywheel ?
The farmer down the road from me gave me a nice 3pt 6' disc for doing some machine work for him. They are nice to have :) Good luck with your new implement !

It is you can see the shear bolt hole. I've had to replace a few of those ;) .

Just curious. You guys seem to know alot about disks. I have cleared the 20 acre plot for a future palm tree farm. Now it needs to be disked. What is left is lots of palmetto turkey necks and a few chunks of pine limbs. I was told that this needs a "20,000 pound disk." I am going to hire this out but could some one tell me what a 20,000 pound disk looks like. I think they pull it with a D5 or so. I am meeting with the contractor on Monday and would love some input.

I've never heard them refered to as "20,000lb disc", but several excavating contractors we sub work to (I work for a general contractor) each have a "bog dosc" they pull with Cat tractors. One is a single gang type, the other uses an offset style that have big cast weights built in as integral parts of the disc frame. They'll dig trough roots, hard ground, even uproot rocks. They look the part of something you'd drag around with a big heavy 'dozer.
