I'm picking up my new BX23 tomorrow and would like to know what you guys would look for, check for; before taking delivery of the tractor?

It would be nice to see a list put together by you experienced folks for new tractor buyers, to check off when they take delivery of their new machine.

I know that the dealer should go through everthing on the tractor (fluids, lug nuts, hose connections, etc...). But what other things should the new owner check?

Make sure you know and understand the operation of EVERY lever, connection sequence of any hydraulic connections (FEL), removal of FEL, starting procedure including cold weather starts, attachment connections-what goes where, sway bars/chains and operation of them, filter locations, fuse locations, on and on and on.....

What to look for....?? Look for the camera you HOPEFULLY didn't leave at home on the kitchen table /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

if you have access to a camcorder, have someone tape everything that the mechanic shows you. it really has helped me. some things I forgot until watching the tape.

I would pick up spare filters for everything and some spare Super UDT for topping off the machine after a few hours of use. You might also want to purchase some touch up paint, both the Orange and the Grey. Don't forget to ask for you "free" Kubota hat! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Speaking of hats Junkman,
DO different dealers in the various ares of the country get the same hats? Mine are solid orange with "Kubota" written in black in broken text on the front. What about yours? For the record, I worked over the dealer for a work hat, a play hat, and even one for my wife. I figured the money I laid on his desk at purchase was worth that.

Speaking of hats,

My neighbor saw the delivery truck coming, and of course walked away with a hat. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'd also take a real close look at how your implements are hooked up. I took pictures of my bush hog attachment areas, and one year later, I was glad I did that.

Can't answer the question. My dealer didn't give me a hat and when I asked about hats, they said that they don't have them. It is a very frugal dealership, although he did give me a Pepsi when he realized that I was serious about purchasing. They are a one price dealer.... take it or leave it, they just don't care. Being that there were no BX22's available anywhere, I took it and it was an OK price, but not as good as others have paid and not as bad as some have said the New England dealers want for a machine. It was less than the closer dealer that gave me a price, but told me that he didn't have any available for 3 months. Possibly that dealer figures in the cost of the hat! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
