Picking up new trailer

Small world. I was born in Athens and lived in Barrow County for most of my life. One of my best friends live in Braselton. Your right about the law dog on I-85 in that area. They eat that stretch up.

very coincidental, as my son was born in Athens, and he has lived in Barrow
( Winder ) all his life and currently at age 32 still does, He too has a best friend living in Braselton....Me!:D
We have most likely cross paths, Might even Know one another,;)

OK. We've had to cross paths I bet. I too am (more like was) into old cars. I went to local cruze ins in the area all the time. You ever been to "DaDo's" on cruze nite before they tore it down? Man I miss their burgers.:licking:

Good afternoon. I'll be traveling from Bushnell Florida to Lexington North Carolina early February to pick up a new flatbed trailer and know it is always a good idea to stop at Florida's AG inspection station and was told empty flatbeds are not required to stop at Florida's weigh stations. I was wondering if anyone could help me with the rules for traveling thru NC, SC and GA with an empty GN flatbed?
Thanks
Jim
Is Lexington where Kaufman is located? Did you find they had the best deal for your GN flatbed or what made you go to NC from Florida?

My friend wants me to tow his 18ft outboard boat/single-axle trailer from SW Florida back to NY in a few weeks. So I was thinking if I could pick up a new flatbed trailer somewhere between GA and the Carolina's it could be a good savings costwise over prices in the Northeast.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I had the idea (crazy??) that maybe we could load the boat/trailer on the flatbed for the remainder of the trip back to NY if the load wasn't too high and could be tied down safely. Any opinions on this would be welcome.

Harold_J,

Yes, Kaufman is in Lexington, NC. In 2002 I looked everywhere for a heavy duty, well built bumper pull 2 car hauler to take a vette and a camaro to the track. I came across Kaufman and we spent hours on the phone figuring out what would work best for me. We did everything via the phone and then drove up and dragged it home. The trailer has worked great for the cars and also to haul hay. Only had one problem with it (last summer) and that was a bad tire valve. Lately we've been spending way more time hauling hay than cars so I decided to upgrade to a gn and focus on handling tractors / hay. Again we did everything via phone / email and will run up early February to get it - after we visit a few race shops. There are a few good manufacturers out there but I feel very comfortable dealing with the folks in Lexington.
