So after much ado on here and the Orange forums of researching pricing out the what to buy, I found my deal about 1900 miles one way in Oklahoma. After a two day drive down to pick up my new package deal which consisted of a new Kubota
L3901 Gear drive 4x4 with third function valve and SSQA bucket, Block Heater, AG tires, 5ft Land Pride Brush Hog and 5ft Land Pride Box Blade sitting on Brand new 2018 20ft Kubota Orange, Lamar Utility trailer with brakes on one axle, all for the low low price of 26 OTD.
Leaving my house on Wednesday the 11th and arriving there on Friday the 13th should of been some kind of inclination of what kind of day that this Friday the 13th was to become, and why you don't buy things on Mondays or Fridays and surely not on Friday the 13th. What was I thinking when I ended up @Great Plains Kubota, a dealership in Ada Oklahoma, when the package I bought was at Country Home Equipment in Tuttle Oklahoma about 90 miles away. Can you say weetarded moment, I sure can and did have one of those moments.
I Got pulled over on the way to the right place but was let off with just a warning, as it was just way to hot to be standing outside anyway and arrived at the dealership @ around 3:30pm and went right to work Tying it down with the new straps, and checking the tire pressure on the trailer, where one of the tires was inflated to 85/90 PSI. After having the dealership employee helping out with the tire pressure, I had him deflate that tire to 50 PSI to compensate for the altitude and extreme humidity in the Midwest.
About an hour later we were off towards home and back on the road, heading North on Interstate 35, exactly 71 miles from the dealership when all of a sudden the driver side rear tire that was inflated to 85/90 PSI blew out on us. Pulled over to what Oklahoma calls the shoulder on Interstate 35 and made a couple calls to the Dealership, who was now closed by about 10 minutes, so I called Custom trailer sales in Oklahoma City Oklahoma, who was also closed, then I texted the dealerships owner who basically said I was on my own.
I dropped the tractor package on the side of freeway and headed up two miles to the Cowboy Travel Plaza and Smokey Pokey restaurant @ Hwy 50 and Hwy 35 meet to seek help. After making a few calls into several tire shops in StillWater Oklahoma as everyone was closing up for the night. About an hour later we had met a tow truck driver in the parking lot of the travel plaza who agreed for the cost of a service call ( $100. ) to take off the blown tire and escort us back to the Travel Plaza @ 15MPH on three wheels so not to hurt anything else.
My neighbor ended up calling his Good Sam's membership he holds and we were sent out an emergency tire repair truck who replaced the Blown 6ply 205/75-R15 C rated tire for a 8Ply 205/75-R15 D rated tire for a total of 323.80 and another $40. tip which I paid only because "at least they showed up". We drove into Stillwater Oklahoma after eating BBQ at the Hokey Pokey where I had the other three tires replaced for another $272.because I only got 71 miles out of the one tire and had another 1850 miles to get home with out incident.
As Discount Tire direct was replacing the other three tires the next morning I got a call from the Custom Trailer Sales who swore they haven't had many failures out the Provider tires they sell with these trailers. Who I also called again to make a claim for the tire that blew out in an attempt to recoup some of money I lost. After calling, emails and sending receipts, they refuse to answer to their failures.
I kept the failed tire and hauled them all home to show nothing punctured the tread as I didn't run anything over, but rather had the side wall blow out. Another Chinese quality engineered tire at best. I would be leery of anything I bought from Custom Trailer Sales at this point :thumbdown:. They give a warranty with the stuff they sell, but what good is a warranty that the manufacturer wont stand behind. I know first hand what it's like to be left for dead and helpless on the side of the road because of it. The Tractor dealership ponied up $150. and I think it would be fair that Custom Trailer sales at least the cost of the tire.
Take this for what it is, a word to the wise at best or a warning to the unsuspected.
