I'm buying a BX2230 w/mmm+bagger, no FEL and was wondering how best to transport it. I don't have a truck but I can rent one. Is there a pickup large enough to carry it? Or should I be looking at something else. I'll probably rent it. Distance is 800mi roundtrip. Thx

You'll need a trailer. The BX2230 weighs in at around 1300lbs and depending on which MMM your getting figure in atleast another 200lbs minmum
Most all pkup's won't fit 48" between the wheel wells and the BX is atleast 45" wide not counting the width of the MMM. The 54" MMM needs about 58" and the 60" MMM needs about 64" of clearance when mounted.

The good thing is that is a good tractor.

Good luck

Really??? Hmmm, I beg to differ with you on that one.. I had no problem what-so-ever fitting 4'x8' sheets of drywall in my F-150, my father-in-laws Dodge or my uncles Chevy 3500. I would say that you could fit 48" between the wheel wells of any Ford, Chevy or Dodge full size pick-up truck.

That also goes for Suburbans. I have hauled plywood in my 90 Suburban and believe I can do the same in my 02 Suburban except not as easily. Vertical height would prevent me from loading a tractor.

The weight quoted wouldn't faze a HD 3/4 ton or 1 ton pickup. Put the tractor in the bed and if you can close the tailgate (or leave it off) and put the MMM in a hitch packer/carrier. Most of those are rated for 500lbs.

I think Volfandt meant that you can't fit more than 48" between the wheel wells. It's pretty much common knowledge that full size pickups accomodate 4'x8' building materials lying flat in the bed...but that still wouldn't be enough for a BX with 54" MMM.

You didn't tell us the size of the MMM or the pickup, nor whether you're going to be driving on a slow level country road or a curvy high speed freeway. I presume this a one time trip or will you have to do this more than once? That means that any opinions we give you re. yes or no are just wild speculation. The answer is: it all depends on a bunch of variables.

I suggest you do this. Go measure the bed of the pickup you're talking about. Measure between the wheel wells and between the walls, also from front of wheel wells to front of bed, and back of wheel wells to tailgate. See if BX with MMM attached will fit. Now calculate whether you could fit the tractor if you took the MMM off and transported it on its side in front of the tractor, or in a separate trip. Check the carrying capacity of the pickup: is it a tiny VW Rabbit P.U. or a monster crew-cab dually with extended bed; what is the rated cargo weight? Do you have adequate tie-down points to really secure the tractor: where are they (corners, side, top of wall, mounted in bed floor); how many are there; what is their rated strength?

The answer could be yes, or it could be no. Use your math skills, as well as some good judgement about safety. After you have some numbers and the model of the P.U., if you still aren't sure, come back here with some specific statistics and I'm sure people will be happy to give you some better informed advice. The more info. you have, the better the advice and decision.

BTW, It could be easier and/or cheaper to rent a U-Haul truck with enclosed cargo cabin than a pickup. I had a friend who was moving once and couldn't figure out how he was going to transport the extra car. He finally just drove it into the back of the U-Haul with all the other stuff!

How long is the tractor. If it's over 96'' it won't go on an 8' bed truck.

I use to have a trailer made out of a C20 pickup bed. I use to prop the toung with a 4 foot piece of angle iron and line my VW sand rail up and back into the bed with 14 inch wide truck wheels on it. It was quite a sight especially if I hit the side of the trailer wrong but it balanced perfect. Now if I have 4 wheel drive and a newer truck bed that had 2 tier levels as most do now you could do the same thing with a BX with no fel

No,

Unless you are getting a flatbed truck. But how would you load and unload it?
