Buckle, I saw that but ain't belivin it... No offense.. Okidokers?

I finally got around to replacing the $16 output speed sensor this weekend. The CEL is no longer on and when I had the codes scanned again the only one showing is the fuel sending unit. I guess I'll put that off a little longer. I'm still on the fence about a new pickup. My gut tells me to go ahead and order a 2010 F250 while I am still able to get a manual transmission in a crew cab. We'll see what the wife has to say about that idea!

Skip the F-250 and spend $600 more and get a F-350 with single rear wheels. Rides the same and give you another 1,500# or so capacity. Best $600 you will ever spend!

Is there any difference as far as registration with a 1 ton vs. a 3/4 ton? Any other differences I should be aware of?

Not in Indiana. I am guessing not in Mississippi either. Call your local License Branch to find out for sure. Some of the states in the North East have some crazy rules but around here guys drive everything. On of my co workers has a F-550 that they put a bed on.

Also be aware that a F-250 or any truck for that matter can be completely different than the one its sitting next to on the dealers lot. Ford has something like 13 different spring packages and 3 or 4 different gear selections. This can mean 2,000# in the bed difference or as much as 8,000# of towing difference. What I am saying is just cause it may be a F-250 or have a diesel in reality a F-150 may haul more on paper if equipped right. Do your research.

Do your research.

I plan to. If I make the decision to buy new, I will have to special order to get the manual transmission along with other essentials I require so I may have more questions to ask.

I'm still on the fence about a new pickup.

I'm finally off the fence. I have decided to keep the Dodge around and it helped my decision that I found a great car to be my daily driver. I just ordered a set of Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's from Tirerack and as soon as they come in I will take the pickup in to get those put on as well as some other services performed.
The advice I received here is good advice. There is really no way to justify purchasing a new pickup with the relatively minor things that this pickup needs. It suits my needs for now and I will revisit this topic when my needs change. Thanks guys.

You will like the Duratrac's. My neighbor has them on a Dmax 3500 and loves them.

I would've done the same. I typically purchase a vehicle and then drive it until it is about dead, sell for a few dollars and start over.

I bet I've saved huge money with that approach, the depreciation on a new vehicle would kill me. My current daily driver is a 2002 purchased in 2005 ford ranger, purchased with 36K for $5K and now has 137K and still rides like new. XLT trim 2 wheel drive 5 speed.

The only one who gets new is the boss as I can't afford downtime for the mini-bosses driver (can't spell cheuffeur). :)
