Nice machine! I too bought the X540 last August. I must say your rear tires are far more aggressive than mine. The fronts seem to be the same but the rear tread is really different. Someone asked you about wax too. I use Turtle Wax "Liquid Ice" on mine. It goes on really easily and doesn't leave any white build-up on any of the edges. Makes a quick shine very simple!

That is nice mower,

But i can't believe you wanted the safety switches disabled, and probably haven't even tried to get use to them.

Congrats on the new tractor. Not much beats the feeling of a new toy, um I mean tool. :)

Beautiful house too.

What kinda wax do you use?

Thanks. I used some Meguairs that I had laying around. I didn't wax the plastic hood though, I just washed it. I wanted to get some input before I waxed the hood.

Each to his own I guess. I was climbing one of my hills in the front yard and I must have raised up in the seat a little and the engine cut off on me. I then had to lock the parking brake, restart and back down the hill. That one incident is enough for me to not want the switch on the seat. Like I mentioned I will be the only one that uses the mower and I am very careful. I have rode dirt bikes and atvs all of my life and I am confident in my skills of operating any machine. I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers by my other post, I was just trying to find out some info.

While I may disconnect the RIO switch (reverse pto cutout) I would not adapt or modify the transmission switch. Also I would not modify the seat switch either. You can easily get used to the seat switch and depress the brake pedal while starting.

The RIO switch is supposed to remind you to pause and look behind you before backing up the tractor with the pto engaged. In operation though what it really does is add a distraction, with it operational you are looking forward to look for the switch to depress at the very time you should be looking behind you.

Good luck with the new mower and watchout for the fire ant mounds.

Nice tractor. We, too, unhooked the safety seat switch except it was on our 455.

I don't have a problem with the seat switch but I hate that RIO switch...

These are the HDAP tires that come standard on the X540 with the 54 inch deck. They will sure come in hand when cutting my hills:)
