Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

I have a Woods 1050 3 pt hoe on my TN75S. It works great. I looked at many other backhoes before selecting the Woods. It operates very smoothly and is quite strong. I routinely pull very large rocks out of the New England soil in one grab (rocks about 2x2x3 feet or larger) . I have the version with the PTO hydralic pump. I run the PTO at about 230 to 270 RPM for normal digging.

Just wondering... Did your 3 pt hoe come with any sort of sub frame kit to keep your tractor from ripping itself in half or isn't that an issue with the TN series?

Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

Its an issue with all tractors because of the stress factor. Some tractors can handle it better but I wouldn't run one without a frame and NH wouldn't warranty one without a frame.

Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

My TNS75 with Woods 1050 does not have a subframe. My Ford 2120 with ford backhoe did. I am very familar with the issues of case cracking (and safety) with non subframe backhoes on smaller ag tractors. On the TN series tractor, both New Holland and a design engineer at Woods assure me that this is not a problem. The TN is a heavy Cat 2 3pt hitch assembly with almost a 4000 # lift capacity. The "assembly" that attaches the backhoe to the tractor is not the normal 3 point hitch assembly with a top link. The toplink in this case is a very heavy piece of steel that has rigid "braces" down to the backhoe frame close to the main pivot point. It forms a very strong rigid assembly (due to the strenght of the steel as well as the fact that numerous "triangles" are formed.

My dealer in Conn (Kahn Tractor) has been selling Ford New Hollland since 1950 and is very conservative in what they will sell as far as backhoes. They usually have several cracked cases on tractors sold by other dealers in their shop being repaired when I visit (all on compact ag tractors) They have assured me that there are no warranty issues with using this backhoe on my tractor.

Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

I'm a liitle curious as to why you got rid of your 2120? Or do you still have it? Did you have any trouble with the 2120?

Thanks

Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

I didn't get rid of the 2120. My 2120 was one of the first 2120's with HSS and I've had it 13-14 years. I'm now using it strictly for 3pt hitch work. The TNS75 is used for backhoe work and heavier lifting. The two machines share loader bucket, rock bucket and pallet forks via a skid steer type quick attach. I realy like the 2120, I just needed more digging depth and lift capacity, also I got sick of the 20 minutes to 2 hours to remount the backhoe on it. Dropping it was always under 5 minutes.

Re: Pic\'s of my TN 65

Is your hoe style that you need to remove the 3pt hitch to mount up the hoe? Usually mine take about 20 to 30 minutes tops to attach. You can leave the 3pt hitch on. Removal is always quicker. Hoe pic. I didn't get the shuttle, mostly dealer suggestion, I really wish I had. Have you had any problems with your 2120?

Do you know where Fredonia or Dunkirk is? If you do I am a couple miles north of them.
