Here's a photo attached of my tractor on an 18' trailer I'm posting for ftcadam to look at.

I see what you mean. The further back on the trailer the less tongue weight on the truck there would be.

How much for the air shocks?

Thanks for all the typing

I think they were about $150, but that was 10 years ago. I suspect they are still under $200. I believe I bought mine at AutoZone, but don't hold me to it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jim,

No worries now, I just bit the bullet and decided to buy an 2500HD extended cab, with the 4.10 rearend.

No problem now, let's get the tractor now.....

Oh yeah! I like how you think. Buy a bigger tractor and justify a bigger truck. Nice going! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim,

What size is your truck is it 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton? I was wondering cause when and if I get a TC35DA w/(FEL) I was wondering if my F-150 would be able to handle it with a trailer similar to the one that's hooked up to your truck.

Just on occasion would I ever transport it, so it wouldn't be a everyday thing, probably like a once month issue. Otherwise my father has a 3/4 ton Cummins Dodge that would do the trick. But it would be nice that I could use mine instead of having to bother the old man every time I wanted to move the thing.

Nice set up you have! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

TMAC, my truck is a 3/4 ton with Cummins, but I don't think you would have to have that for transporting up to 50 miles and only once per month. I'd say you definitely want to get an 18 ft trailer with brakes on one axle (the front axle) and air-lift shocks for your truck. The 1/2 ton suspension will really "squat" in the rear if you don't have a load levelling device or air shocks you can air up as needed. I used to have air shocks on a 1/2 ton GMC and it was fine for the once-in-a-while hauling. Even my 3/4 ton feels the tongue weight with both a loader and rotary cutter attached to the tractor. I'd never consider hauling loader, tractor, and rotary cutter at the same time on a 16 ft trailer since the cutter would hang off about 4'.

Like one that passed me today on Denton Tap Road; a New Holland, cab model, with a 15' batwing mower on a dual wheeled tandem axle gooseneck behind a Ford F450 flatbed truck? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I noticed it was a 2WD tractor and I was sure it was labelled as a TN100, but I don't find such a model number on New Holland's web site.

Bird, I think the largest "TN" tractor is a TN75. Maybe it was a TW100 and had part of the "W" decal scraped off. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
