A couple of weeks ago I spotted what I thought were a couple of small surface roots.JiminGa said:LB, I humbly request forgiveness for doubting and harassment. Nice fleet of tractors and glad to see you finally got pics for us to see them and your place. one question, What the heck are you doing with the backhoe there? looks like a huge root or something, can't figure it out.
Looked to be about an inch thick and were exposed for a foot or so each.
The places I saw them were about 12 feet apart.
I figured each one would be about 5 or 6 feet long.
When I went to dig one up this is what I pulled up with the BH. > http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk286/lb59/100_2321.jpg
This was the only root.
It must be about 30 feet long and 4'' in diameter.
About 4 feet of it was straight across my gas line.
I told my wife hope it's not under the gas pipe.
I dug with a shovel along the top of the root where it crossed the gas line and it was only about an inch down to the root which meant the root was on top of the gas line.
I then hooked the BH under the root and pulled it up and cut it off on each end.
So ends the tale of the root canal.
