Larry...
Would you give some more info on how you mounted the Vibco Vibrator, Tips on Mounting, Noise, Do's & Do Not's. Does it work good ?? Too Big or Small ?? I'm in the process of building a screener that fits into my lawn tractor trailer that I'll load with my Hoe & when the trailer is full of screened material, pick up the screener with Hoe and then I'll drive the trailer to where I need the soil, dump, and come back to the pile and do it all over again. Your thoughts on this idea as well. I'll be doing this without help that's why I'm thinking Vibco Vibrator. I'm thinking 1/2" Mesh or would you suggest larger. My screener will only be 3'W X 6'L so I don't think I'll need a real large Vibrator. Please share your expertise.....
Thanks
Eric

Eric,
I welded up a frame out of angle iron, mounted the chain link in that. I just bolted the Vibco vibrator to the frame. Now my frame I estimate the frame alone weighs 200+ pounds. The Vibco 55-2 was the largest that I could power, drawing about 10 CFM at 80 psi. It makes quite a bit of racket, and doesn't vibrate it much. It does a bit of work, but the main thing that makes mine work is the angle that I have the screen at, and the fact that I am dumping material on it from 10+ feet. Note: Drier material works better. I am using 1" mesh. I fear that 1/2" mesh may be too small. Remember that with the screen on an angle the apparent opening is less than the nominal opening. I think that that Vibrator might be good for your purpose. The idea of a cart to move things around is attractive. I would suggest that you might build a frame that you could back the cart under and then away you go.

I'm with Egon... I built one last year out of some 9 ga chain link fence and some PT 4X4's. It definitely isn't as nice as what you built.

My screen was permanantly mounted level about 4' off the ground. It was the highest I could get it and still reach over it to dump with my NH 7106 loader. I had to get off the tractor every 3 or 4 loads to clean all the rocks & roots off. The short height made it a challenge to get underneath to pick up the topsoil. It did make for some nice top soil to work with though. Unfortunately it collapsed over the winter. I'd like to salvage it to finish up a few more projects, but not sure if its worth the hassle now. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Larry,

One suggestion - Why don't you tilt the screen the other way? That way, you could scoop up the screened material at the front with the FEL, and the rocks would be at the back, where the cross brace is preventing easy FEL access. Just a thought.

Paul,
Not a bad idea! I have it tipped the way I do so that I can dump at the top of the screen and have it travel all the way down the length of the screen. Given the length and height, if it was angled the other way I wouldn't be able to dump very high up on the screen. What I have is a winch that raises the low end when I want to go in and scoop stuff up. Thanks for the thought.

Larry....
Frustrated as heck, I can't buy chain link fence in my area. The best I could come up with was 14ga 1" square but I've got my heart set on chain link fencing as you did. Where did you get your's, we've got a Home Depot 115km's from here, if not, I'll ask NoBull1 for help in the city/metro area. Tell me Home Depot.........
Thanks

Eric,
Sorry not Home Depot. I just flipped through the yellow pages and a fencing company that had it in stock. Many folks said they would order it for me. Did you try searching online?

Larry...
Thanks for reply. There are fencing companies in Halifax are largest metro area about 1-1/2 hours from me so I'll plan on doing some "visits" the next time I'm in there. Just to clarify, you've got fine mesh with about 1" holes, correct ?? Did they hassle you about maybe having to buy a 50' roll or did they cut off what you needed ??
