After 4 years I finally pulled the trigger on chains & after a getting them adjusted I got to test them out yesterday by moving most OIF the snow I had piled up at the bottom of my driveway! What a difference! Not feeling intimidated by the elements now with that traction!!

I dropped my steering axle over the edge of the ditch moving the pile at the end. Felt the front end sag down, stopped, dumped the bucket and walked out of there. No need of using the bucket to push myself out.

My only complaint so far is the little 1/4" clevises that are used on the fronts. They are to small to really put the torque to to tighten them up, so they work loose. I am going to locktite them next time I have to replace one.

I don't use a shovel. Using a shovel is Manual Labour and I am Canadian not Mexican.

What a racist comment from the Great White North!

What a racist comment from the Great White North!

A lot of people say that Canadians apologise a lot. I'm not going to apologise for the comment, I just deleted it instead, Mr. Jackson. It was supposed to be funny, but seeing as you don't think so, away it went except for your quote.

My response was actually meant to be sarcasm, not criticism...sorry you deleted your post

No problem here. I had a friend, since passed, that lived in North Washing State who used to fish right up against Canada, until the "Cannooks" as he called them and Obama made that unfriendly waters. He also complained about Canada's lax fishing laws - they were stealing "His pink meat" (Salmon). However he complained about the Native Americans worse. It was all in fun though as he had some great fishing buddy's across the bay and his neighbor was one of the natives who could fish whenever he wanted and took John with him a lot.

What is sad is I retired due to folks wanted to be treated special due to where they came from or their life style orentation. I tried to treat everyone equally based on their abilities, If you did more or were better, your chance were better for the limited promotion possibilities unless you were willing to move (which is what I chose to do) to move up. Then I was told I had to fill positions based on race and quotas based on the governments standards. Folks with permanent green cards had a better chance of being hired than local folks. So after 40 years I threw in the towel.

In the exit interview I mention my own statics of hiring and promoting and found out that I exceeded the standard they had set. 10 of my 12 direct reports were from the protected classes and I promoted them based on ability's. I explained if the folks wonted to move up, they knew they had to perform. I provided training and support to everyone. The folks that succeeded were moved up. Now those that never lifted a finger to learn get a free ride moving up, and as they are government jobs they cant be fired. No wonder most of the work is now being hired out to consultants at 3 times the cost. All of the good engineers are working for them, even me.

So when I hear a joke that can be considered offensive, I just laugh and move on,
Looking4new - no problem here - there is a worse one along that joke line here about manual labor that is more blatant (I am a little closer to our Southern border).

For me if it cant be done with a power tool, it not worth doing. :D

Ill apologize now if I have offended anyone, but watching my son look for a summer job on his own and fail as he was not from the right place or did not speak enough of a certain language, was heartbreaking. I had to ask and old friend if he could use him. Worked out great. My son made me and my friend proud (made foreman/unit leader) by the end of the first summer as he had a solid work ethic and tried to do more and better each day, so a little of his old man rubbed off after all.

Now on the upside. A while back I needed to have a mechanic come out to fix a wiring glitch on my tractor. The said they would send out "Spark Plug". Turns out he was a older very short little Hispanic guy that is a genius with wiring, He introduced himself by his nick name. I was curious about his nick name and as he worked he explained that he figured out he had a knack for getting into tight places and loved wiring, so went to school on his own to learn. He got his nick name as he was able to reach spark plugs one time that no one else could get too on some car (saved the day). Amazing man, and believe it or not a Trump fan. He eared his money that day as the glitch was buried deep in a wiring harness up under the dash. He save me from having to buy a new harness. When I get service on my tractor now I ask for him to do it even though it costs a few bucks more. I guess I am strange as I am willing to pay a bit more for quality parts and work. Like the Trygg chains I bought.

Anyway - everyone stay warm - is 3 degrees outside right now.

I was curious about the pump in the pic. Does it do good? I lucked into 2 still in the boxes when I local machine shop closed and trashed everything
at the metal scrap yard. I was thinking of making a multi connect system,, use it to power a FEL mounted auger , snow blower etc

Drill a small hole through the finger spade then use mechanics wire to secure the fastener in place.through a chain link.
