Anybody here watch the show PIMP MY RIDE?

It is very funny, inspirational, and always has a happy ending.

No!

From the dearth of affirmative answers, I suspect you have run head-on into a generational gap.

I'm not too fond of what they do to the cars on that show but I do watch it once in a while. All the tv's, stereo and gimmick stuff is just not to my taste. I remember the one where they put the flat screen tv on the ceiling of a Mustang.......what's with that????

I have been closely watching the other new show called Overhaulin' though. They are fairly close in what they do but Overhaulin' isn't into the techno stuff Pimp My Ride puts in the cars. They're just straight hot rods.

One thing I do like about both shows is that they leave all the staged conflict stuff out. Sure there's a little bumping of heads but it isn't a major theme of the show like American Hot Rod and Orange County Chopper. That gets old after a while for me.

I've seen it a couple times. It's target audience is probably 25 and younger. They do some ingenious things, but not that practical.

I've seen it a couple times. I don't like what they do to those cars. All that stuff just doesn't appeal to me. Dumping $40,000 into a $400 car is a bit much. Who would put a chandaleir into a car anyway? Or a fishtank? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif That's really pushing it...

I've watched that show a couple of times, and though there's no accounting for taste, it is fun to watch people turn those cars into really crazy rides.

Your comments about the upbeat nature of the show are right on target. In that sense it reminds me of Funkmaster Flex. Flex seems to be really comfortable with the widest possible groups of car enthusiasts, from NASCAR to rap artists and everything in between.

There's no way I'd have ever known about either of these shows if I didn't have a 14 year old son.

I about died on pimp my ride where they have the mock meeting to decide what they are going to do. Its so clear that those guys do not belong on camera, that makes it pretty funny.

Dave:

I am surprised a show with that name would appeal to you. You need to go cultivate some cherry trees or make some cheese.......... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Daryl,

You sound jealous that your ride hasn't been pimped yet (or has it...) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
