Pin hole danger

 / Pin hole danger #21
I've had one pinhole in a rubber line to my FEL. I only found it because I leave the bucket upside down over some other equipment to protect and hide it, and there was a red puddle on the pallet this stuff was sitting on. I didn't put 2 and 2 together till I was parking the tractor later that day and as I turned the bucket over I saw a fine spray forward into the air - it was very hard to see! I bought 2 new hoses - one for each side - but I think it may have been caused by some of the brush I was running thru - I later found a small bend in one of the steel lines up in that area too.

(I have read numerous posts where you give advice on tractors, and good advice at that. I highly respect your opinions regarding mechanical equiupment, but unless you are yourself a doctor, refrain from giving medical advice like that to anyone. Recurring, bleeding sores over a years time indicates a problem that needs to be attended to by a professional.)
Sorry, I don't agree with you. The man would have a very serious symptomatology if there were any real problem. He would have signs and symptoms of infection and probably be febrile. His hands are bleeding simply because they are very dried out and keep cracking.
I've handled enough cases similar to this in hospital to know what's going on with him. If this had been serious, he'd long ago have been to the doctor.
However, if he wants to go spend someone's money only to be prescribed something that will do the same thing, far be it from me to try to save him all the fuss and muss over nothing more than severely dry skin.
Any ill effects of hydraulic fluid would have destroyed the tissue, and believe me, he'd know it. John

Yes "Sprayed" as in dispersed fluid under pressure (albeit not enough to puncture intact skin...I just hadn't release enough before disconnecting).

Hit my face, glasses, arms,...but closest to the connector were my knucles (left hand) which were the only open sores (scracthed previously) that the spray hit.

Thought they'd heal but now every time my hands get dry, those spots that were scraped and got soaked with the fluid, crack and bleed.
In other words, when the skin is not dried out, your knuckles look fine? )

No, when not cracked and bleeding they are still very dry and there are dark brown spots (small but there) on each nuckle where the fluid got in the scratches. The drier they get, the more likely to crack and bleed.

I have not made it a priority to get to a dermatologist yet but will. 5-6 nights of moisture, sealing with 3-Antibiotic, and wrapped in gause helps but spots still there. I'll let folks know what results are....no need to speculate on what you can't really see. Sorry for the poor description.
