Pinched Steel tube

Had same thing on excavator and a local shop here makes the metal tubing for hyd lines. Tractor shop recommended them. I would have no problem having a splice if the shop did this work normally.

If the options mentioned are not good ones you might could have flex hose made and use it instead of the tubing. Have done that also.

we have some heavy equipment.. scraper pans. long, big suckers. not uncommon to have a bank of 20-30' metal hardlines on the sides. all it takes is a good tree branch to flatten them. pricing a replacemnt line ( they make 2-3 compund bends ) is well into the hundreds of dollars. last braze repair I had was 15$ :) ( done by the hyd shop that does all our hyd repairs.. motors, pumps.. valve blocks..cyls.. etc.. )

I do agree with you from a fleet standpoint but I ony have one tractor to deal with, thus my "off to the OEM store" reasoning but I would also stop by our local (and very competent) hydraulic shop for a completly made up new pipe estimate.

I have a FEL with a punched steel supply tube. Does anyone have any suggestions on the easiest and cheapest way to fix this? Would cutting out the pinched area and putting a compression fitting work? Thanks

Where are you located?? i have connections all across the us @ hydraulic repair shops maybe i can refer you to one?

Testing the new upgrade!

Thanks to all. After a little tinkering, I found that fluid is moving through the pinched area. Not sure if it will present a problem.

I am located in Harmony, PA if you want to give me a name just in case it proves to be a problem.

is it short enough that you can push a ball bearing thru the pinch to open it up?
