A great use for pine straw is to mix in the soil when planting potatoes-potatoes need acid soil and potatoe scab which is a fungus is greatly reduced, if not, eliminated. Fungus hate acid.

Paul,
Yep..thats what we call a dump rake, and I was sure glad when the side rake replace the dump rake. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Blacksmith's in this area like to buy old farm equipment and make lawn fixtures.

Remember dad selling one of two of the dump rakes for $150.oo /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
The blacksmith sold the wheel which someone buried half of the wheel to the entrance of there driveway.

The other wheel with the axle,he made a bottom stand than cut of what axle he didn't need than welded the axle to the stand, with the wheel still attach he had a piece of plexiglass cut to fit on top of the wheel and made nice looking picnic table which turns.

The hay tongs he made a flower post.
He two different types 4 or 6 hanger, all he did was take tong and welded inside of a pipe and at the other end heated and made a hook for the hanging pot.

Yep this blacksmith made some $$$ and wanted to buy more old equipment,he also visit other farmers.

Old milk cans he made pigs..saw blade he sand blasted and painted names or pictures..etc..

I guess one man junk can be another man treasure. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thanks for the info about Leinbach. I'm familiar with them, as I have their landscape rake. Also, since I live in NC, it is only about 70 miles to Winston Salem. Sounds like it might be time to ride over there and check out all their implements.

Gordon, thanks for the information. I like their pine straw rake, however, I was looking for one to attach to my 3 pt hitch. I really don't want another engine to maintain.

The site you pointed me to looks very interesting. I'll spend some time there later on today. Thanks, again.

Look around that site some and you will see they have a three point rake. That's why I posted that website.
