Hi all
I am Ronald Lobo just joined the forum.
I am planning to lay asteel pipe under ground about 20 feet deep by trenchless method .I am looking for a device to install at the head of the pipe and track the same from top of the surface as the pipe is being rammed. can any one give me a suitable solution or the details of a supplier of such devices.

You may be looking at line locator's something like this. You should be able to rent one.

I believe some underground pipe installations may use a laser system for maintaining direction. Not familiar with the details as it was many a year ago since I seen a unit in operation.:confused:

Hi Ronald and welcome to the forum. Sounds like an interesting project, tell us more about it. I have a friend who does underground directional boring for a living, it's very interesting. Of course it's the directional part that is the trick. He does very long runs so being able to steer the bore is important. Are you planning on trying to steer it, or just let it go as it will on it's own? If the latter, I'm not sure how important the tracking device is. For only 20 feet, it should track fairly straight unless you have a lot of rocks. Machine up a cone to put on the front and let 'er rip!
