Piranha tooth bar!!!

Nice to hear stories of good customer service...

I was a toothbar skeptic and decided to buy a Markham solely on TBN research and I've never taken it off... does a great job with the soil conditions I have.

Used my PTB for about two hours today. I'm very impressed with it and it really helps in the woods. I was able to take out a few small stumps that have been dead for a while just with the toothbar. This probably wouldn't have been possible with the bucket alone.

Just wanted to add my two cents to anyone considering one. If I ever have a cameraman around I will shoot some video.

I finally got my PTB put on.

Just out of the package. Notice the missing cutouts for quick-on forks. I requested no cutouts since I don't plan to add forks to the bucket.

Testing the initial fit on the bucket. I tapped the bar with a 4 lb hammer (2x4 between them to keep metal from hitting) to set it as tight as it should be when it's installed. Then I added the welding clamps to keep the bar against the cutting edge. I tapped the bar some more just to make sure everything was tight.

Marked the holes with a permanent marker. Drilled pilot holes with 1/4" bit. The instructions said a smaller size, but 1/4" fit the first step of the step bit better. The final size of the hole was one step below 3/4". When you get close to the final hole size check the bolt in the hole to make sure you don't go too big.

A note about step bits: Don't go too fast and be careful. They like to grab the hole and will twist the drill in your hands. When you get the hole to the correct size run the bit on the other side to clean up the hole.

Toothbar fully installed. Make sure you tap the bar with the hammer and keep everything tight. Tighten your bolts and you're done.

Looking good. Just watch yourself walking around the bucket now. It took a couple of bites out of my ankles until I gave it proper distance. It's a little beast. Also took a chunk out my fence and a deck post getting used to the extra length.

I was watching the Legend of Mick Dodge on Nat Geo last night. Micks buddy had what looked like a PTB on a L235.

jjs, nice write-up with pics!

I remember someone else saying that when they installed, they decided to reverse the bolt/nut direction. Their thought was that the bolt end may get buggered up some and may make the nut hard to remove. Don't know if it's really anything to worry about, but seeing your pics reminded me of that, and thought I'd just mention it...

Installed my PTB on the new BX25D today. Must have taken all of 5 minutes to drill and install. Now just need to destroy something..

The youngest and I cleared off more of the property today. The PTB really helped.

You guys are gonna love it, I personally think it's the best bang for the buck add on to a SCUT or any other loader of reasonable size.

Thanks to jjsjeff for his detailed instructions. I followed to T and installed my PTB on my L4600. Can't wait to start using it. image.jpg
