Pisten Bully 400 service and operations

No I wasn't let go, at least as far as I know. Last I heard we had 3 machines operable out of 5, so that's more work for some people and none for others. This past week trails here were still being groomed. This company is quite disorganized. I still have keys for buildings..... What does that mean?

It means, if they aren't broken, you can go out on joy rides!!!

The keys do get left in the machines, even if they are outside. Here is a power co machine with keys in it, that we spied this weekend.

161E1351-01D1-45C6-8681-1ACB94BED48D.jpegArly, too bad about the politics. We have the same issues here in a small volunteer group. Our machine had the oil pan tore off.... the stump pan was missing and i guess someone decided to go where no man has gone before? anyhoo it must have ran without oil for a wee bit too long cause she's blowing oil out now.... But the virus shut our trails down, too bad we still have a few weeks of good riding left.
You will enjoy ski trail grooming. Our club here uses a Skandic SWT (24" widetrack) 900 ace and it is a great machine. Not near as comfy as the cab of a machine though!! But ski trail grooming can be fussy to get it just right, oh the things we do for fun eh?!

Thanks for your kind words thunder C, and everyone else for that matter :). I've been grooming XC trails for the past 20 years or so. Not 100%, but mostly. This winter was my 1st foray into sled trails. For tow machines over those years, that would include many SWT's, other work sleds, ATV's, UTV's and a bully. We sold a 900 ace a few years ago which was the last sled I operated. Thanks to all!

I heard that its looking like 30K to get the Bully I operated back up, so its likely it will be replaced with a new unit. At this point, I'm not sure I'd go back to work for them anyway. :confused3: Hope everyone's summer has been good!

While 30 is a lot, it is just a fraction of new. I remember your frustration about the maintenance.

Thanks Kyle. I'm not sure if the 30K included new (rebuilt) drive pumps and motors, but there were shot as well. Operating snow machines is indeed a costly endeavor.

Here is a bully photo I took early this past season. Funny that this photo makes them look small.

You're welcome. Maybe a new machine would entice you back???

weren't there "politics" or "personalities" there too?

The machine on my end we operated was the oldest in the fleet so any other, would be a plus. Management was indeed interesting and lacking in communication and training as well. Etc, etc, etc. Seems people quit so quickly, why train them? Not sure about next season and at best, remains a "maybe" for my return.. I'd need to be in charge of my run. What can I say???
