PIVET PIN

That's what happened to mine also. When it broke the first time I had grease coming out next to the inside arm on one side only. I had it welded and everything went along great until I broke the weld on the other side. Then I had grease coming out of both sides (inside arms) and had those two welded, which worked for a short period of time. Then I put on the mini hoe and dug a burn hole. This was the cause of cracking the pin completely through.
When talking with PowerTrac on warranty repair, they mentioned a solid pin from one side to the other. Not sure what they meant but assume it will work well.

No one seems to have the same problem that I have. The only thing that I see wrong is the welds on the outside of the lifting arms were torn out. The pin seems straight. The only logical explanation I can come up with is, there are eight 1/4 in holes in the sleeve assembly. These could have been for grease fittings, or someone tried to loosen the pin from the sleeve. They left the holes open and water got in and both parts are rusted together. I don't know if all the pounding I am doing is compressing the steel. I will also try to press out the pin with a large press. If that doesn't work, I may have to junk the whole tilt assembly.

That pin and sleeve is the one that Terry has repeatedly warned me to grease often. He even suggested hitting it with grease on the way out each time I use it. As I understand it, that is a metal on metal contact fit all the way through, and if corrosion gets started, it will bind as yours has. I can only recommend PB Blaster, heat, and patience. It may take a long time for the PB Blaster to penetrate far enough to do the job - if it does. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Terry might have a suggestion.

Each time? That's an awful lot of maintenance. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I thought I would try one more thing before I have to cut out the pin on the tilt assemble. I welded the pin on the outside of the lift arms. I tried to break it loose with the tilt cylinder. but it wouldn't move. Next option is to cut the welds off the outside pin ends, go to the inside of the lift arms and cut the shaft so that I can try to press the pin out. Maybe I can get away with no damage to the tilt sleeve assembly. A new 2' pin runs about $39.00 plus shipping. Someone mentioned something about a stronger pin stock. Does anyone know what grade PT uses.

Has the holes been threaded to receive a grease fitting ? Will the grease fittings take grease? If the fittings wont take grease you could try replacing the grease fitting with a new one, Pump in as much grease as it will take along with the wd40 and the attach one of your implements raise the arms as you try to curl it down with it fould down jiggle the curl back and forth and try to pump more grease in it sometimes that will cause a stuborn grease fitting to take grease and free up frozen joints . Hammering in the pin could have swolen the pin I hope not though. I hope you get the thing freed up without too much trouble. If someone has drilled the holes in the sleeve with the pin in it a rough spot may have the hole thing stuck.

Some days one should never get out of bed. I sent the lift arms for repair on June 18th and they arrived Tazewell June 25th. Called Terry on June 30 to see if they were repaired. He said they were and are shipped. Today they still are not here so I called Tazewell (they were off all last week) and got a tracking number for UPS.
Well, they left Tazewell on July 1st and were misdirected to PHX by UPS. Shipping was corrected and they ended up in Sioux City, Iowa (misdirected again). Now they are supposed to arrive my home Wednesday, July 14th if they can get their act together.
I told PowerTrac they should be given a refund as they had done everything correct but UPS did not.
In the meantime, I have had to mix cement (mixer for 425 not usable), dig 4 holes (mini hoe sitting on ground), and ask the neighbor to mow my lawn 2 times. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
It can only get better /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
