I'm installing a welded tube cylinder as a 1 ton lift on a trailer (Cylinder force = 4000 lbs). What should I used for pivot pins? Are clevis pins heavy enough? I think what I liked to use is 1" dia greaseable axles. What is the right thing to use and where can I find them?

Any help is much appreciated.

If there isn't a stock application, you have a few choices. A solid pin with hardened steel like a clevis pin will work. But you need grease provisions on the cylinder. Or if you want / need a pin with grease fittings, you will have to go to a machine shop and have one made. Common material is 4140 steel, easy to machine and can be case hardened or thru hardened.

The cylinder has grease fittings. So, I've decided to go with simple clevis pins. Thanks for the info, jb.
