PJ or Hudson 20 ft equipment trailer

I'm the opposite. My slide in ones are excellent. I can pull them straight out of the back in under 30 seconds and are never in the way. My last GN had stand up ramps and more times than not were a issue but a necessary evil on a 25,000# 30' trailer.

I have a PJ 18' dovetail trailer bought in new in 2009, have had zero problems with it, I would but a PJ again.

I've a 2007 Hudson, by chance, not choice.

Three things I'd rather have a "do over" on.
1. The tail lights in the "box" are sized such that I could not find any modern LED lights that fit. I even called Hudson and they said they looked and couldn't find any.

2. Only about 78" between fenders, I could easily use 4 more inches.

3. More stake holes would have made it sturdier for my "enclosed" modification.

Other than that it's a good sturdy trailer.

Yeah I really think after looking at both will do the PJ. Both are very nice though. Thanks for everyone's responses.

I have a Kaufman 18 ft 10,000 equipment trailer deluxe model and it has been great for 3 years now , thinking about going to Lexington and buying a dump trailer. I reckon you can get a bad one from anyone but I would have thought their service would have been good

Yeah I had no idea. Just figured they didn't get that big without supporting the customer. They have really cheap prices which I'm sure is how they sell so many units. Normally nothing is for free though. After my experience I reviewed their BBB rating and couldn't believe it. Back then they had a F but I think it's up to a D- now. At least their improving. LOL

The other issue I've noticed is that equivalent spec trailers are not nearly as ridged frame wise as some of their competitors. One thing in particular as they use 24" cross member spacing standard where PJ uses 16" as a standard (14k deluxe equipment trailer). I suspect the gauge of some steel is lighter to as my trailer is a good bit lighter in weight than they said it was. Ol Black Cat scales confirmed this for me.

You're going to like the 83" wide PJ as it makes loading a large 78" wide CUT a no hassle affair. I wish somebody had told me a 20' trailer is too short for a large frame CUT. I wish I had ordered a 22' or 24' trailer.

Did you get a rub rail, chain box and spare tire mount? I like those extras on my trailer.

I got the rub rail, spare tire and mount, tool box, winter wire upgrade, and winch plate so I can mount a winch later if I want. Good for pulling dead equipment up on trailer. Can't wait to get it.

I never was overly impressed with Kauffman trailers. Always seemed to be a cheaper unit to me. You definitely have to compare trailer specs to see why a trailer is priced where it is.
