Tractor
Kubota 5040 with FEL
Hey everyone,

Based on everything that I have read on here I have come to the conclusion that the CCM tiller is the way I would like to go. I called them yesterday and talked to a fella(I believe his name was Mark or Mike) about their tillers. He said that they had some sr-185 units in stock. It is a heavier duty unit that is 6' wide. The main reason I like the ccm is because of the good reputation they have from online reviews and on here. Plus they are gear driven which I have always been told are heavier duty(not trying to start an argument). Is there anything in particular that I need to add to this unit to make it work better? My tractor is a kubota 5040 4x4 with cat 2 rear hitch. Also if I ever need parts what do I have to do in order to get replacements? I didn't know if hte common things tines/bearings would possibly be a generic style where I could get lucky and get some at a local coop? Like I said I've pretty much made up my mind but just wanted to ask a couple of questions prior to ordering. Thanks.

I'll speculate that you talked to Mark, and I think that unit comes with a slip clutch, so I don't know of anything you would need to add to it; ought to be a nice tiller. As for your questions about parts, I can't answer, but I think you should ask Mark. I think he'll both know the answers and answer honestly.

If that tiller is rated for Cat. I, you'll need to get some Cat I bushings to convert your hitch. Nothing to it.

That is a "Man" of a tiller for sure. Yes it comes with a clutch. I bought an MR190 a few months back and its pretty much ready to go once you attach the clutch. Its a great machine and the SR is about 300 lbs more although i'm not quite sure where the extra weight is. (Its a great ballast too by the way, lots of weight in a small footprint) The only thing I forsee wearing out are the tines and I suppose Mark would have to answer that question for you, as to availability of parts.

I recently purchased a CCM M-160 tiller. I am pleased with dealer response, the shipping procedures, and the tiller itself (It appears better built than its closest competitor.). CCM advertises the SR-185 with a #6 PTO with clutch. You will probably have to cut the sliding PTO shafts to match your tractor's 3PH. I was impressed enough to drive my tractor down the road to the boarding school where I work and tilled the school's garden as well. An awesome piece of equipment! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Jay

I ordered the tiller today and a top link tilt trim kit with hoses and everything. Hopefully it'll be here this weekend because I am planning on using my box blade some this weekend. Thanks again.

I receved the ccm tiller yesterday and I must say that I am very impressed with it. It is built alot heavier than I anticipated. It'll be a few weeks until I get around to using it but I think it is going to be a great tool for me! Just thought I'ld let everyone know.
