How about a scare crow.. then tie used aluminum pie pans to it to flop around. I've also heard that using strips of old video tape work well. If you have kids.. could be a fun project for them.

I've heard many times what PineRidge said about moving the stuff around every few days. Given what I have at hand, I'll probably try dangling waste CDROMs.
