At one time or another, I've used most of the described equipment and techniques that the other's have utilized - hand broadcast, hand-held spinner broadcast, ground driven spin broadcast and 3pt pto broadcast.
And hand rake, tooth harrow, roller packer and disc harrow to bury the seed.
But the best germination I've ever gotten with shallow seed planting's is with my ATV...
Drive very slowly and always turn wide - those wide, fat tires with knobs and cleats press the seed into the soil and have worked wonders - for me at least - with establishing a lush green stand.
