Here's a few pics of my Atlas Copco (purchased new in the late 1970's). The air from the compressor goes though an old transmission cooler and from there into a truck air brake system dryer before going into the storage tank. Moisture is ejected automatically at the end of each cycle through the white PVC pipe at the bottom of the pic.

The PVC pipe extends through the outside wall. The last photo shows the exit for the "sniffer". It's muffled slightly as it scares the crap out of you when it activates. :D

Works really well. Never any moisture to drain from tank.

My system works really well, but in retrospect I should have purchased the reefer unit like yours. With all the time spent figuring, shopping for parts and getting help (I'm not nearly as smart as I think I am) it wasn't at all cost effective.

Plus the day my compressor packs it in I'm left with a bunch of used parts and fittings whereas I could just re plumb the IR unit into the new or replacement compressor.

Harbor Freights use to sell a refrigerated air dryer for around $300.00. But I think someone said they discontinued it.

"I picked up the Powermax 30xp today and got a chance to try it tonight. I only made a few short cuts on 1/4" and 3/8" and I can't believe the difference between the 30 and 30xp. This is definitely the right machine for me. It cuts way faster than the 30 and does a really nice job. Happy days. I sure wish I got it before my grapple build. It would have been sooooooo much nicer having it. Now I'm finished the fab work on the grapple and have nothing to use the plasma on. I guess I better come up with another attachment build idea."

Keep us posted on how the Hypertherm Powermax30xp works for you!

I got to use the XP for a few more cuts to add bracing to my grapple and I love this thing. The cuts were in 3/8" flat bar and some were on 3/16" plate and none of them needed grinding to fix imperfections, other than a little tit left over at the end of the cut.
