Plastic fenders on 3016

I do a lot of what you're doing, dragging logs in and out of the woods, moving the logs on/off piles with the backhoe, dig rocks, stumps, plow snow, driveway grading, but mostly working with logs.

I've got ag tires on my current trac and want the wider 'Industrial' tires on my new one.

Don't know what you mean by R1/R4 tires.

R1's are ag tires. R4's are the industrial. My dealer was willing to trade off the ags on my tractor with the industrials that were on a 3616 sitting in his lot since the ags on the 3016 are the same size they put on the 3616. The industrials are not with the 3016 having smaller tires. When loaded with Rimgard, the larger industrials made the tractor 500# heavier. I opted for the ags for what I do plus I already had the tire chains for them.

arrow,

I see you're from RI. Who do you use as a dealer/service company?

Dubay's. You in the Attleboros per chance? If so, Dubay's is about a 50 minute ride for you. I like the "roof shingles" you make for your wood stacks.

Your ride if you go there is going to be a little longer then. Dubays is in Danielson Conn. which is the next town over after you leave Foster RI. His store literally splits RI and Conn. A very straight up company to deal with. He gave me almost $7000 for my 1985 JD 750 which John Deere was showing me $1500 and then $1850 when they saw what shape it was in. I mean they could have put the thing in their show room.

You mentioned looking at a larger series 40 if for no other reason than steel fenders and based on the tractor data specs on the 3016 you may want to consider the 40 series for a larger BH. Or, I looked briefly at mahindra site and they may have a larger BH on the Largest 30 series?

The photo of your Fergie holding a large log looked like it has some pretty good power and I am sure you wouldn't want something with less real world capability. Just a thought for consideration and confirmation. I know it is a dealer you are comfortable with, but just for your own interests and info, have you looked over any other brands in person?

Btw, with your use, I would strongly consider a BH thumb.

I tend to agree with this assessment. Your Fergy is one tough machine. Twice the tractor of the 3016. I'd go higher up on the tractor scale if you want a backhoe. I don't think I'd look at a machine much less than 4000# I think an ideal combo would be the 3016 to drag wood out and a 8-10,000 lb mini excavator for your yarding stuff.

I'd love to upgrade to a 40 but I'm really stretching the budget to get to the 30.

While I was grading my driveway yesterday, I was thinking that it was going to cost me $25k to do what I was already doing the job with. :( Then later in the day, I was out in the wet woods with my brother and his new Kioti CK20, and thinking that I wouldn't be able to do what he was doing, with my 2WD heavy Fergie.

I'll definitely get a thumb, but I'm going to have to stay with a unit no more expensive than the 30.

8-10,000 lb mini excavator for your yarding stuff

in my dreams ! :cool2:

Get the 3016, put fluid in the tires, you'll be over 5000lbs and have yourself a nice machine.

Another Dubay customer here. Been working with the Dubay family for as long as i remember. My parents had several wheelhorse tractors over the years that all came from Dubay.

I walked in over 20 years later, tell Dale my last name.... and he promptly spouts off my parents names, old house address, and even remembered which WH's we had over the years. (If you've ever seen their WH graveyard... i swear one of the old 3 speed clutch models was actually ours....)

Stand up guys over there... worth the drive from Middleboro if you ask me.
