Plastic hoods and fenders instead of steel ones

/ Plastic hoods and fenders instead of steel ones #31
There are three US Yanmar HST models, 41, 45, and 49 hp. They each have 3 range HST and 4cyl engines. The 49hp model has a turbo and a slightly smaller displacement engine than the others.

Here's the full spec sheet: http://www.yanmartractor.com/files/9613/5059/1597/lx_hst1.pdf

I do have the loader, the label says it is made by Yanmar in Japan. The hydraulic cylinders I noticed, however, are Italian manufacture.

Thanks Katahdin, for your kindness in replying to my machine gun bullets questions !
I see everything in these Yanmar is made in Japan and US assembled, including the loader.
Independently of $/euro currency our new 40 HP may be one of those models.
I had a look on yanmar Australia website and I found the shuttle transmission LX450 in..... yellow coulour. Let's say exactly the old US modeL
Yanmar Europe has only to import the same kits from Japan and assemble them in EC.
No need to import from US, so cheaper, obviously...

I saw on you tube this video Yanmar EX3200 Tractor Demonstration - YouTube

I see the detachment of the loader on EX3200 is little bit more difficult than on a Deere for a 300CX loader.
Is it the same system on HST 41, 45 and 49 tractors ?

Phil

PS : Thanks for the link (yanmars HST specs)

I certainly don't mind answering the questions, I just hope the John Deere guys don't mind me disseminating my Yanmar tractor details in their forum. Lol, John Deere and Yanmar are part of the same happy family right? :)

No, the EX3200 and the LX's CL6000 loaders are different. I have not had the need to take my loader off, but I can tell you there is no need to lift the tires to disconnect anything and the CL600 loader detaches only from the loader arms. The procedure is very similar to the Kubota one captured here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loMgylltsh8

For additional information I've attached the 2 pages describing the Yanmar CL600 detachment procedure from my manual for your review:

Hoods and fenders aren't load bearing structures, being mostly safety guards. So you don't really need them to be metal. Which means you can have a slightly lighter, possibly less expensive tractor. The problem with plastic is it melts, it burns, and it can shatter, and it can warp (and unlike metal, you can't really bend warped plastic back into shape.)

I'd need to see an example of the plastic warping Dr Z is describing. I warp 17 foot plastic kayaks all the time, by tying them down with ratchet straps on roof racks, or stacked on a trailer loaded with gear. Plastic kayaks are at least as thick as tractor hoods and they warp easily but leave them out in the sun for a few hours and the heat returns them to form. My kayak buddies and I have been also known to drag our loaded kayaks over portage trails, down and over rocks, etc. We beat the **** out of our plastic kayaks, much worse than a tractor hood would go through in its lifetime.

For sure Katahdin, this discussion can hurt our Deere friends .....
But as you said Deere and Yanmar are not ennemy brothers.
They have collaborate in the past, and still collaborate in the present, in building strong and reliable tractors.
My personnal position is I am on the razor blade. Or I fall on the Deere side and buy a 3000 series (with plastic fenders and hood) or I'll be on the Yanmar side and wait for the new EC 40 HP Yanmar (with plastic fenders an plastic hood I guess..).

Thanks a lot for loader manuals scans and video. Very instructing.

Phil

Yes DrZinj but one say the lighter the tractor is the more difficult it is to put its power on the ground......

That is true, with my new autoconnect deck, I gotta take it off to put my front blade on, and so my unit will be 400 pounds lighter for snow plowing.
