Building new home now and it will be PEX! Can highly recommended AND preferred by the plumber doing the install.

Here is some info posted in a totally unrelated forum regarding PEX connectors:

The connectors fit PEX, Copper and CPVC (all have the same OD). I found them at Home Depot in the copper fittings plumbing section. They just slide on the pipe to make a leak proof connection. They can be removed at any time using a "disconnecting clip" to depress the release collar (clip costs a buck or so). They also swivel, which is important if you are using a 90 degree elbow connector or otherwise need to turn one side or the other of the pipe. Cost was about $5.30 each for straight connector, and about $5.85 for 90 degree connector. Home Depot also sells PEX in 5 footsticks (about $1.75 for 1/2 inch ID - 5/8 OD).
